Shed Row Barns & Run-In Shelters

Vanessa Ford September 28, 2020

The original idea for the farm was to have a centralized barn and matching workshop. My last post tells about the progress of the workshop. The barn was going to wait until the workshop was completed. However, due to all of the delays and setbacks with the workshop, we thought re-thinking our farm design. I found a company called Horizon Structures that I began discussing buildings with. I tentatively ordered a run-in shelter for our first pasture. I had a pad graded and topped with stone. It took four-five weeks for the building to be completed. Then they delivered it completely assembled on this massive truck and used a remote-controlled forklift device to set it in place. Y’all, I’m sold!

It was quick, easy, and painless. The building seems to be really good quality. They even put a small tack room on it, so that pasture boarders will have a place to store their stuff. It’s super cute. I only wish I had them put gutters on it. No worries - I’ll just add them in the future! I immediately ordered a 4-stall shed row barn. It has since been delivered, and I love it. I bought a 2-stall shed row barn directly from their lot and had it delivered alongside another run-in shelter for our pasture of mares. Now all our ponies have some shelter!
